Sen. Kyrsten Sinema (D-Ariz.) joined fellow border state lawmaker John Cornyn (R-Texas) in calling for Joe Biden to take control of the southern border.
On Monday, the Arizona Democrat sent a joint letter with the Texas Republican urging Biden to use his “full authorities” to counter the surge of illegal immigrants. They noted, “it is critical that our nation take aggressive steps to secure our border, protect our communities and ensure migrants are treated fairly and humanely.”

Last week, Cornyn took to the Senate floor and slammed Biden for rescinding Trump-era immigration policies. The rash reversals led to the current crisis.
“The Biden administration has, sort of in a reflexive manner, reversed all of the previous administrations policies without any plan to put in its place and without regard to the consequences,” Cornyn stated. “The Biden administration didn’t inherit this mess; it helped create it.”

This comes amid reports that Biden was given ample time to respond to the crisis, but failed to act swiftly to prevent this from happening.
